The Second North West Simulation Network Meeting was held at the Village Hotel Warrington. Network membership has now passed the 120 mark. As expected due to other commitments not all members could attend, however again over 55 members of the multi-disciplinary network actively took part in round table discussions. Building upon the themes of the first network meeting, those of increasing capacity & availability of simulation, collaborating, sharing best practice & developing quality assurance, the second meeting focussed upon: - Faculty development
- Current courses
- Formation of special interest working groups.
The remit of the working groups is to review, explore & make specific recommendations for inclusion in the North West Simulation strategy with respect to specialist areas of interest. It is envisaged that each of the working groups will consider the development across the region of following: Simulated clinical scenarios & skills, faculty & educational governance, the interface between undergraduate & postgraduate education & innovations. An invitation is extended to all network members to volunteer to actively participate in a multi-disciplinary Task & Finish working group in their own area of interest. Approximately 8-10 members will be selected, with a chairperson, with the aim of providing a briefing paper for the November Meeting of the Network. Hospitality costs will be met to ensure network members can meet & achieve this objective. Network members are kindly requested to volunteer for this first cohort of Multi-Disciplinary Working Groups that include: - Faculty Development
- Human Factors
- Peri-operative Care: Anaesthesia, Surgery, Theatres
- Paediatrics
- Emergency Department
- Critical Care
- General Practice
- Psychiatry
- Obstetrics & Gynaecology
If you are interested in joining a working group please email your interest to ralph.mackinnon@northwestsimulation.org.uk Received names will be added to the fifty plus volunteers from the meeting. Notification of the first cohort of working group membership (noting some disciplines have more members than others & sub-specialisation of groups will be required) will occur in early July.
